Topic: Exploration of Impact-based forecast and warning services in Shanghai

Session: Impact-based flood forecasting and early response

Dr. Qiang Wang, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Center for Meteorological Disaster Prevention Technology at the Shanghai Meteorological Service will discuss the development of impact-based forecast and warning services in the city region.

Shanghai aims to be the financial, trade, transportation and shipment center of China. However, the city's large population plus critical locations such as downtown, airports, harbors, etc. are highly sensitive to climate and weather events.

Taking into account the users' capacities and decision-making processes, a new interactive style impact-based foerecast and warning service has been developed. Based on high resolution numerical weather forecasting products, the forecasts and warning services cover urban flooding, aviation, marine navigation, health and transportation.

The InterMET Asia 2018 International Exhibition

The 5th exhibition of meteorology technology companies and providers of forecasting services will be the largest gathering of weather and climate services companies in the Asia-Pacific region - the world's fastest growing market for weather & climate services.

For exhibitors, it is an unprecedented opportunity to meet senior buyers and representatives of national meteorological services and weather affected public and private enterprise.

For weather affected enterprises this is your chance to meet the companies that can enable your enterprise to manage and mitigate the increasing risks and impacts of extreme weather & climate change.
