STOP PRESS: WMO opens regional office in Singapore
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has opened a new office for the Asia-Pacific region in Singapore to improve coordination on hazards ranging from floods to fires and to strengthen meteorological services for rapidly evolving economic sectors such as air and marine transport. The Regional Office is being hosted by the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) and will serve as the nerve centre for WMO’s programmes in the region. Full story here >>
About InterFLOOD Asia 2018
InterFLOOD Asia is all about mitigating and managing the potentially catastrophic impacts of flooding on vital infrastructure, including water, energy, communications, agriculture and transport, as well as vital social infrastructure such as health and education.
Co-located with the highly successful InterMET Asia meteorology and extreme weather event - now in its 5th year - InterFLOOD will comprise an international trade exhibition, a high quality dedicated conference, and free to attend workshops.

The InterFLOOD Asia 2018 Conference & Workshop Programme, 11 - 12 April 2018
The organisers of the successful annual InterMET Asia event, which was launched in 2014 and focuses on the use of hydro-meteorology to help mitigate and manage the risks and impacts of extreme weather and climate change, are launching a new and complementary event, InterFLOOD Asia.
Like InterMET Asia, InterFLOOD Asia is part of a co-operation framework of the World Bank and the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction & Recovery (GFDRR).
The InterFLOOD Asia conference will be dedicated to the technical, engineering (both 'hard' and 'soft', or 'smart', 'green' or 'natural' solutions), and financial apsects of mitigating and managing the risks and impacts of flooding, and of building resilience and adaptability to the potentially catastrophic consequences of flood events for life, business and the economy. The provisional conference programme is as follows:

Flood Forecasting Workshop
